We believe our clients are not defined by their substance use. Instead, we are committed to empowering them to have a complete and healthy life.

BACKGROUND

We were founded as the Westside Women’s Center in 1986. Our purpose was to be a welcoming space for women on the near West side of Cleveland to find support and assistance. A group of social service agencies came together to offer services in one space convenient for women. Each agency provided specific programming and held a seat on the Board. We were the first in Cleveland to offer bilingual HIV counseling services. Since the beginning, we have focused on the specific needs of women and a front runner for gender-specific services in Cleveland. Today, we are dedicated to addressing the needs of women affected by substance use disorder and trauma. Our team provides opportunities for women and their families to take control over their lives – physically, emotionally, and economically.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Women’s Recovery Center is to serve women and their families by providing comprehensive substance use treatment, prevention, and education programs that are client-centered, family-based, and recovery-focused.

VISION STATEMENT

Executive Director

ayassall@womensctr.org

In June 2019, I assumed the role of Interim Executive Director of the Women’s Recovery Center and was hired on as the Executive Director in October 2019. The Women’s Recovery Center is an intensive outpatient substance use disorder treatment facility located on the West side of Cleveland, Ohio. We were established in 1986 and currently offer morning and evening treatment sessions. We utilize a holistic, trauma-integrated approach to treating addiction and integrating physical health, emotional healing, and family reunification.

I was previously a consultant specializing in health and welfare benefit plan compliance and plan management but additionally have experience with funding, accounting, and compliance of retirement plans. I’m credentialed as a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), passed several Society of Actuaries Exams, and have my Ohio Life and Health & Accident License.

I am also passionate about community service and social justice efforts. I spend time volunteering for addiction/mental health, education, and poverty efforts.
